With this pandemic, a lot of interviews have moved from being in-person into phone or video interviews. Interviews can be intimidating but that’s why we are here to help.
Today, we want to give you some tips on how to do well on your next phone interview.
Research the Company
Before your interview, make sure to review the job description and do some research on the company.
Prepare in Advance
You need to prepare for a phone interview just as much as you would for an in-person interview. A good way to prepare is by taking a look at some of the most common phone interview questions and preparing some answers to them. Also make sure to have a list of questions to ask the interviewer at the end.
Have All Your Materials Nearby
You want to feel confident about all the details about yourself, your skills, and your background so keep a copy of your resume nearby so you can reference it during the interview.
Practice does make perfect! If you can, have a mock interview with some family members or friends. Another option is to record yourself answering the questions to see how you did!
Get Ready for the Call
Try to find a spot that is quiet, comfortable, and private so you don’t have any distractions during the interview. If you are using your cellphone, make sure it’s fully charged.
Keep a pen and paper close to you to write notes about the interview.
Yes, smile! Smiling can actually help you project a positive image and a happier tone to your voice which can help you stand out. It will also help you show enthusiasm in your answers.
We believe in you! You got this!
