Have you been applying to hundreds of jobs and internships but haven’t gotten any response? It may be time to fix your resume.
Don’t worry, we are here to give you a few tips on how to make your resume outstanding.
Your resume should include your name and contact information, experience, education, and skills. There are some people who also include a summary or objective, but that is up to you. You can also add your awards, achievements, hobbies, and interests if you have enough space. Make sure your resume is only one page.
Make it simple, easy to read, and brief
Recruiters and hiring managers are busy and will only spend a few seconds reading your resume so make sure the font you use is professional and that it is only one page. It is suggested to keep font size between 10 and 12 points.
Look for keywords in the job posting
Pay attention to the words that are used under “requirements” or “qualifications” and if you have any of those skills, then make sure you use those same terms within your experience or skill section in your resume.
Include most relevant and important information first
You only have 6 seconds to catch the attention of hiring managers so make sure that you are including the most important information. Remember that school organizations, volunteer experience, and other similar roles are just as valuable as an internship.
Quantify your results
Whenever you can, you should include metrics of what you accomplished because it proves your point and makes you more credible.
Make sure you customize your resume to every single company and for the specific job position you are applying for.
We know you got this! Don’t lose hope.
